See you there
If you’ve ever been stumped by how to get into a business fronted by stairs with no ramp or handrail or wondered how to get your wheelchair or stroller down from a high curb, you will appreciate the efforts of the Comox Valley Accessibility Committee working to raise awareness about how much of a battle it can be sometimes just to go from A to B in our town in your daily lives.
As of April 24, 2018 the interlocking accessible walkway leading from the one paved, handicapped parking stall has been installed. Time to get on the beach with friends and family to enjoy a firepit weenie roast with that incredible view.
John Higginbotham, a representative of the Comox Valley Accessiblity Committe has been an advocate for the widening of the sidewalk on Ryan Road for some time. After a great deal of work with various stakeholders and the City of Courtenay, it is finally gaining some traction.
